HonestSwipe helps you review dating-profile photos using AI-generated feedback. This Privacy Policy explains what data we process, why we process it, and what choices you have.

2. Data We Process
When you use HonestSwipe, we may process the following data:
- Photos you submit for review.
- Optional text notes you add to a review.
- AI-generated review results.
- Anonymous user identifiers created by the app.
- A random app-install identifier stored on your device. The backend stores only a hashed version of this identifier.
- Credit and usage data, such as free monthly credits, rewarded-ad credits, and credit transactions.
- Rewarded-ad claim metadata, such as reward event IDs.
- Technical request data needed to operate the backend, such as request IDs, timestamps, app ID, job type, and processing status.
- Network information such as IP address may be processed as part of normal server operations and security logging.
- Local app history stored on your device, including review results and copied image files.
We do not require you to create an account with your name, email address, or password.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Generate AI feedback for submitted photos.
- Show your review results and history.
- Manage free uses, credits, and rewarded-ad rewards.
- Prevent misuse of the service and ensure fair usage limits.
- Diagnose errors, prevent duplicate job processing, and maintain the service.
- Respond to support or privacy requests.
We may also use automated checks to determine whether submitted images are eligible for processing. For example, we may refuse to analyze images that appear to contain minors or otherwise do not meet the intended use of the app.
If an image is rejected, it may not be processed further and may not be retained beyond what is necessary for technical operation.
4. AI Processing
When you submit a photo, the photo and any optional note are sent to our backend. The backend sends the relevant content to our AI provider, currently OpenAI, to generate the review.
Submitted photos are stored on our servers as part of the review job data in order to generate and display results.
The AI output is meant to provide practical feedback about the photo, such as lighting, framing, expression, background, and profile-photo effectiveness. It is not intended to determine your worth, attractiveness, identity, personality, or eligibility for any opportunity.
5. Rewarded Ads
If you run out of ad-free uses, you may choose to watch a rewarded ad to receive a credit.
Rewarded ads are served by Google AdMob. Google may process device information, advertising identifiers, ad interaction data, and related technical data according to Google's own policies. Google AdMob may use advertising identifiers and similar technologies to provide, personalize, and measure ads.
HonestSwipe's backend receives only the information needed to confirm and record the reward, such as a reward event ID and reward status.
6. Legal Bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract / requested service: to process photos and notes and return AI-generated reviews.
- Legitimate interests: to operate the service, prevent misuse, keep credit balances accurate, debug issues, and secure the backend.
- Consent, where required: for certain advertising or tracking technologies, depending on your region and platform settings.
7. Data Storage and Retention
Backend data may include submitted job inputs, including photos, AI outputs, credit records, rewarded-ad grants, anonymous user records, and processing logs.
We retain submitted photos, AI results, and related data for as long as your account remains active in order to provide review history and operate the service.
Data is stored until you delete it using the in-app deletion feature or request deletion via support.
We may retain limited technical logs for a longer period where necessary for security, fraud prevention, and debugging purposes.
To prevent misuse, we may retain a minimal hashed record related to app-install usage limits. This record cannot be used to directly identify you.
Local history is stored on your device. This may include review results and local copies of submitted images.
8. Sharing of Data
We may share data with service providers that help us operate HonestSwipe, including:
- OpenAI, for AI review generation.
- Google AdMob, for rewarded ads.
- Hosting, infrastructure, analytics, logging, or database providers, if used.
We do not sell your submitted photos or review content.
9. International Transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country or region, including outside the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms used by those providers.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data.
- Delete your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Receive a copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use this app.
HonestSwipe is intended for adults and is not designed for or directed at children or minors. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18.
If we become aware that data has been collected from a person under 18, we will delete it.
12. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your data. For example, the backend uses anonymous user IDs rather than requiring names or emails, and the install identifier is stored on the backend only as a hash.
No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
